Birthplace & Education: Ryujin was born in Seoul, South Korea. She studied at the Hanlim Multi Art School in the practical dance department, a school renowned for training many idols.
Before debut: Ryujin was scouted by a JYP Entertainment agent at a fan meeting for the group GOT7. In 2017, she participated in the survival show MIXNINE on JTBC, where she finished first in the women's team. However, she was unable to debut because the men's team won the finals.
