Origins: Born in Seoul, South Korea, Seungmin grew up in a family with an older sister. He attended Cheongdam High School and quickly developed an interest in music and singing.

Training and Pre-Debut: In 2017, he joined JYP Entertainment after winning 2nd place in the agency's 13th open audition. Unlike many trainees, Seungmin never missed a single day of training and kept a daily journal to track his progress.

Debut: He made his official debut with Stray Kids on March 25, 2018 with the mini-album I Am NOT. Seungmin quickly became the lead vocalist thanks to his steady and emotional voice.
