Biography and Career

Boo Seung Kwan was born on January 16, 1998 in Busan, South Korea, but has lived in Jeju-do since his early childhood. He attended Seoul Broadcasting High School, a school renowned for training artists and entertainment personalities. From elementary school, Seungkwan participated in children's song festivals organized by his school, already revealing his passion for singing.

It was thanks to a video posted on the Internet by his teacher, in which he was singing at a school festival, that Seungkwan was spotted by an agency. Although he received an offer from JYP Entertainment, he chose to join Pledis Entertainment in June 2012. He auditioned with the song "Last Love" by Kim Bum Soo, a title he feels perfectly represents him. After 3 years and 2 months of intensive training, Seungkwan made his debut with SEVENTEEN in May 2015, immediately joining the Vocal Team as a main vocalist.

Besides his activities with SEVENTEEN, Seungkwan has made a name for himself in the South Korean variety world. He is a regular member of the show "Unexpected Q" alongside Eun Jiwon (Sechs Kies) and Yoo Seyoon, as well as "Prison Life of Fools" with JB from GOT7 and Yena from IZ*ONE. Seungkwan has two older sisters: Boo Jinseol and Boo Sojeong (also known as Booreum), who herself made her debut as a singer in October 2020. Seungkwan's name has a special meaning: "Boo" means "adult", "Seung" means "success" and "Kwan" means "generous". He therefore aspires to be a generous successor, and strives to give energy to those around him. Seungkwan is a very sensitive person: he is easily moved at concerts when he sees the fans, and takes song lyrics very seriously.

Hobbies and Tastes

Seungkwan's hobbies include volleyball, basketball, calligraphy and musical singing. He loves hamburgers, meat, cereals and fruits, and has a preference for goguma pizza (sweet potato stuffed crust pizza). However, he is allergic to tomatoes and cannot eat cucumbers or melons.
