Kim Nam Joon was born in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Passionate about languages, he studied in New Zealand for four months in 2006, and learned English on his own thanks to the television series Friends. Before his debut with BTS, he was an active underground rapper, even collaborating with Zico of Block B.
