Hueningkai was born in Hawaii, United States, where he lived for one month before moving to South Korea and then settling in China for about 7 years. He moved to South Korea in winter when he was 8 years old.
His mother is Korean and his father is of mixed heritage, with Polish and Scottish roots. His father is also a musician and released an album in 2007 titled "Virtues In Us" in English and Chinese.
Hueningkai was the 3rd member of TXT to be revealed, on January 15, 2019. He is the first foreigner to debut under BigHit. He graduated from Hanlim Multi Art High School (practical dance department).
His representative animal is the leopard gecko and his representative flower is the Iceland poppy. The Morse code in his Questioning Film translates to "Secret".
