Born in Hanam, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, E:U grew up in a family with an older sister two years her senior. Before debuting in K-pop, she was a cheerleader.
E:U was the fifth member to be revealed during EVERGLOW's formation. She posted vlogs on Yuehua Entertainment's YouTube channel before the group's official debut. On March 18, 2019, she debuted with EVERGLOW.
