Born in Suji-gu in the Gyeonggi-do region, DK grew up with an older sister and discovered his passion for music during his teenage years. It was while watching Yoon Dohyun's performances in middle school that he dreamed of becoming a singer, inspired by the overflowing energy and connection with the audience that this artist exuded on stage.
Before joining Pledis Entertainment, DK was a diligent student at YP Music Academy. He was also part of a rock band in middle school, which testifies to his love for rock music.
